Apple (AAPL) is working on a series of devices in an effort to challenge Amazon (AMZN) and Google (GOOGL) in the smart-home business, including new displays and a faster TV set-top box, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports. The push into the smart-home market will begin with a tablet product that offers users control over things like thermostats and lights, as well as letting them show video and handle FaceTime chats, Gurman says, citing people with knowledge of the plans.
