Apple (AAPL) is slated to announce as early as Wednesday that it is expanding its Apple TV+ streaming service to Android (GOOG) phones for the first time in an effort to boost subscribers, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports, citing people familiar with the move. Previously, Apple TV+ had just been reserved for the company’s own operating system and third-party platforms such as Roku (ROKU), the author notes. Shares of Apple are up 1.3% in afternoon trading.
