Apple (AAPL) has initiated talks in recent weeks with major news and publishing organizations, seeking permission to use their content in the company’s development of generative artificial intelligence tools, the New York Times’ Benjamin Mullin and Tripp Mickle report, citing four people familiar with the discussions. The iPhone maker has floated multiyear deals worth at least $50M to license the archives of news materials, and has contacted Conde Nast, NBC News (CMCSA), and IAC (IAC), the authors note.
