Apple (AAPL) has been hit with a lawsuit over its decision not to implement a system that would have scanned iCloud files for child sexual abuse material, the New York Times’ Tripp Mickle reports, citing the suit. The suit claims that by not doing more to prevent the spread of the material, the company is forcing victims to relive their trauma. It seeks to amend Apple’s practices and compensate a potential group of 2,680 victims with damages exceeding $1.2B.
