Amazon (AMZN) is increasing ad spending on Elon Musk-owned X, formerly Twitter, in a major shift after the ecommerce giant removed much of its advertising on the platform more than a year ago amid hate speech concerns, the Wall Street Journal’s Dana Mattioli, Suzanne Vranica, and Jessica Toonkel report, citing people familiar with the situation. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy was involved the move, which could lead to the company spending much more on X, the authors say, noting that Apple (AAPL) has also recently had discussions about testing ads on the platform.
