Anthropic, which initially set out to raise $2B, but was able to increase that amount during talks with investors, is finalizing a $3.5B funding round that values the AI startup at $61.5B, people familiar with the matter told The Wall Street Journal’s Berber Jin. In November of last year, Amazon and Anthropic said they were “deepening their collaboration,” adding at that time that Amazon would invest an additional $4B in Anthropic. Investors in the latest round include the venture firms Lightspeed Venture Partners, General Catalyst, and Bessemer Venture Partners, according to The Journal’s sources.
