Acadia Healthcare falsifies records at methadone clinics, NY Times says

Acadia Healthcare’s (ACHC) for-profit chain of 165 methadone clinics has generated more than $1.3B in revenue since 2022 and is “a business that we continue to feel great about,” Acadia’s CEO told investors this year, but a New York Times investigation found that business “has been built in part on deception,” according to a report published on December 7 by Katie Thomas and Jessica Silver-Greenberg. Acadia “often fails” to provide required counseling, according to five dozen current and former employees in 22 of the 33 states where the company has clinics, and “employees at times falsify the medical records that Acadia uses to bill insurers,” according to the employees and internal emails, the reporters stated.
