RTX Earnings: A Bleak Outlook Slams RTX Stock Today

RTX (RTX) stock dropped on Tuesday after the aerospace and defense company released its Q1 2025 earnings report. That’s despite the company’s adjusted earnings per share of $1.47, which beat Wall Street’s estimate of $1.35. It also marked a 10% year-over-year increase from $1.34

Revenue from the RTX Q1 earnings report came in at $20.3 billion, another beat compared to analysts’ estimate of $19.81 billion. It also rose 5% from the $19.3 billion reported in Q1 2024. The company noted that revenue was up 8% organically, excluding divestitures.

Unfortunately, RTX investors weren’t impressed by its Q1 beats. The stock dropped 3.86% in pre-market trading, following a 2.15% decline yesterday. This chips away at its 9.54% year-to-date gain.

RTX 2025 Guidance

RTX stock’s drop is likely tied to the company’s 2025 guidance in its Q1 earnings report. The company expects adjusted EPS for the year to range from $6.00 to $6.15. At a midpoint of $6.07, this would fall short of Wall Street’s estimate of $6.11 for the year.

RTX’s outlook for 2025 also includes revenue between $83 billion to $84 billion. That likely disappointed RTX investors as analysts’ expect revenue of $84.17 billion in 2025.

Investors will also note that this guidance doesn’t include the potential impact of tariffs. RTX President and CEO Chris Calio stated the “current environment is clearly very dynamic” but that the company is “well positioned to perform operationally.”

Is RTX Stock a Buy, Sell, or Hold?

Turning to Wall Street, the analysts’ consensus rating for RTX is Strong Buy, based on 12 Buy and four Hold ratings over the last three months. With that comes an average price target of $144.75, representing a potential 14.77% increase for RTX stock. These ratings and price targets will likely change as analysts update their coverage after today’s earnings.
