Quantum computing stocks suffered a massive drop in trading following comments from Nvidia (NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang. During the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Huang noted that useful quantum computers were still 15 to 30 years away. That comment ended a massive rally for quantum computing stocks after Alphabet’s (GOOGL) Google announced a potential breakthrough late last year.

D-Wave Quantum CEO Fires Back at Huang
Following the Nvidia CEO’s comments, one CEO shot back against his claims. D-Wave Quantum CEO Alan Baratz told CNBC “The reason he’s wrong is that we at D-Wave are commercial today. Not 30 years from now, not 20 years from now, not 15 years from now. But right now today.”
Baratz’s comments aren’t surprising as the CEO no doubt doesn’t want to see the quantum computing stock rally end. However, Huang’s comments carry more weight considering he leads the second-largest company in the world by market capitalization. Nvidia is also a top player in the artificial intelligence (AI) and graphical processing unit (GPU) markets.
