Starting this news with the PlayStation 5, Microsoft’s (MSFT) Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Electronic Arts’ (EA) EA SPORTS College Football 25, and HELLDIVERS 2 took the top three spots in the U.S. and Canada. Switching to the EU, the top three downloaded PS5 games were EA SPORTS FC 25, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and Take-Two’s (TTWO) Grand Theft Auto V.
That last one’s especially interesting as GTA 5 is over 10 years old. It’s impressive that it remains a top seller and is hopefully a sign that Grand Theft Auto VI will perform just as well when it’s released later this year.
The Top Free-to-Play Games on PlayStation
Sony combines downloads on PlayStation 4 and PS5 for free-to-play games. Fortnite, Roblox (RBLX), and NetEase’s (NTES) Marvel Rivals secured the top spots in the U.S. and Canada. Changing over to the EU, Fortnite and Roblox still hold the top two positions while Marvel Rivals is replaced by Call of Duty: Warzone.
Marvel Rivals making it into the most downloaded PlayStation games of 2024 is a surprise. The game was only released in December of that year and only on PS5, meaning it didn’t have nearly as long on the market or as wide of a reach to gain downloads. However, investors know it took off fast with fans after NetEase announced it hit 2.5 million players across all platforms earlier this month.
Is SONY Stock a Buy, Sell, or Hold?
Turning to Wall Street, the analysts’ consensus rating for Sony is Moderate Buy based on two Buy ratings over the last three months. With that comes an average price target of $24, a high of $25, and a low of $23. This represents a potential 12.78% upside for SONY shares.
