Phones Pre-Loaded with TikTok Are Being Sold for Thousands of Dollars on eBay (EBAY)

Story Highlights

Some people are cashing in by selling phones and tablets that already have TikTok installed.

With TikTok no longer available to be downloaded on Google Play (GOOGL) or Apple’s App Store (AAPL), some people are cashing in by selling phones and tablets that already have the app installed. Listings on eBay (EBAY), Facebook Marketplace (META), and other online platforms are offering devices preloaded with TikTok for tens of thousands of dollars. However, it’s unclear how many of these devices are actually selling at such high prices.

Invest with Confidence:

Listings on eBay range from as low as $340 to as high as $50,000, with the lower-priced options receiving the most bids. According to The Associated Press, one seller listed an iPhone 14 Plus with TikTok for $10,000 and received a bid of $4,550.

The TikTok ban has left many users in limbo, with about 170 million users in the U.S. affected. While individual users are not targeted by the ban, new downloads are no longer possible. As a result, there are still many uncertainties surrounding the situation even though President Donald Trump directed the Justice Department to pause enforcement of the ban until early April. Nevertheless, there are some questions about the authority of Trump’s order and the willingness of TikTok’s parent company to sell the platform.

Which Stock Is the Best Buy?

Turning to Wall Street, out of the four stocks mentioned above, analysts think that AAPL stock has the most room to run. In fact, AAPL’s average price target of $243.24 per share implies more than 9% upside potential. On the other hand, analysts expect the least from EBAY stock, as its average price target of $64.05 equates to a 1% loss.
