Oklo (OKLO), Uranium Energy (UEC) & NuScale Power (SMR) Surge on Trump EO Reports

Nuclear stocks are on the move Friday morning following reports that President Donald Trump intends to sign executive orders to increase nuclear energy production. This has shares of Oklo (OKLO), Uranium Energy (UEC), and NuScale Power (SMR) soaring in pre-market trading.

Confident Investing Starts Here:

Insider reports claim that President Trump’s executive orders will invoke the Defense Production Act to reduce America’s reliance on China and Russia for nuclear energy supplies. They will also direct the Department of Energy and the Department of Defense to locate federal land and facilities where nuclear plants can be built and accelerate the process of doing so.

Why Is Trump So Interested in Nuclear Power?

The U.S. needs more energy to power President Trump’s plans. He has announced major support for developing artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure with Project Stargate, led by Microsoft (MSFT)-backed OpenAI. Over $500 billion from private investors will be poured into the project over the next five years.

The data centers that power AI require massive amounts of energy. To get this power, some companies have started seeking deals with nuclear energy companies. This is where President Trump’s executive orders come into play. His plan to increase nuclear power plants in the U.S. is part of the larger AI boom.

What This Means for Nuclear Energy Stocks

If President Trump does sign these executive orders, which he may do as early as today, it would be a major boon to nuclear energy companies, such as Oklo, Uranium Energy, and NuScale Power. This could open the way for new deals and reduce the red tape required to set up their facilities.

Comparing the three nuclear energy stocks that rallied today, each of them have Moderate Buy consensus ratings from analysts. However, UEC offers the largest upside potential at 103.49%, compared to 18.33% for OKLO, and contrasted by a possible 22.99% downside for SMR.
