A new Nintendo (NTDOY) Switch 2 leak is out and with it comes a release window for the upcoming handheld/home console hybrid. Accessory maker Genki, which recently leaked the design of the Switch 2 at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is also behind this latest news.

IGN interviewed the company’s employees following the Switch 2 design leak. The video game publication asked about the leaks and Genki employees said they were surprised people cared about them as so many leaks have already come out. In that interview, the employees leaked another unexpected detail by claiming the Nintendo Switch 2’s release date will be sometime in April.
How Credible is the Nintendo Switch 2 Release Date Leak?
Genki appears to have insider information about the launch of the Switch 2, which makes sense as it’s an accessory maker for the console. The April release window also lines up with official information. That includes Nintendo confirming it plans to make an announcement about the Switch 2 before the end of its current fiscal year in March.
It’s also worth remembering comments from Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa in February 2021. At that time, he said the Switch was halfway into its life cycle. This was four years after the console’s March 3, 2017, release and it’s been four years since then. Based on that, it’s time for a new Nintendo console to launch, adding credence to the April release window.

Turning to Wall Street, only one analyst has covered Nintendo in the last three months. Four-star Jefferies analyst Atul Goyal has a Buy rating and a $17.20 price target for the stock. This represents a potential 22.51% upside for NTDOY shares.
