Ming-Chi Kuo: A Slimmed Down Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) Watch Is Coming

Story Highlights

Apple prepares an update to its Sonoma OS, and also, plans emerge for a new Apple Watch with a larger screen, sending shares upward.

We’ve heard quite a bit out of Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) in the last several days. In fact, earlier today, we got word about improvements in Apple’s battery life. However, it turns out the batteries aren’t the only things getting improvement, as Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggested that the Apple Watch Series 10—now expected to debut this September—will not only have a larger screen but will also be thinner overall. As a result, Apple shares are up nearly 3% in Monday afternoon’s trading.

Don't Miss our Black Friday Offers:

The screen sizes of the two watch models planned will be 44 millimeters and 49 millimeters, up from 41 millimeters and 45 millimeters, respectively. Reports suggest that most other specs will remain the same, but a new case option in a darker color may be considered as long as it doesn’t hinder production. Moreover, Apple will start using 3D-printed components this year.

All This and an OS Upgrade

But Apple was scarcely done there. We’ve already heard about a range of new options and models coming out, and there’s an upgrade coming to the Apple operating system (OS). The first beta of Sonoma 14.6 has emerged, and it’s showing up with developers now. A developer beta means that there are likely to be tools, apps, and other programs already in progress for it, potentially for release in short order. We don’t yet know what’s part of 14.6, however, as Apple’s keeping that part quiet, and no leaks have emerged. But it’s a safe bet that it will happen before too much longer has passed.

Is Apple a Buy, Hold, or Sell?

Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Moderate Buy consensus rating on AAPL stock based on 24 Buys, 10 Holds, and one Sell assigned in the past three months, as indicated by the graphic below. After an 18.66% rally in its share price over the past year, the average AAPL price target of $209.28 per share implies 4.22% downside risk.
