Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) plans to invest $1.7 billion over the next four years in expanding cloud services and artificial intelligence in Indonesia.
Microsoft CEO’s Indonesia Trip
During his trip to Indonesia on Tuesday, Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella announced that this investment would include building data centers. Nadella also emphasized that Microsoft’s investment aims to introduce advanced AI infrastructure to Indonesia, leading the development in this area.
Indonesia is Nadella’s first stop on a trip to Southeast Asian countries, where he promotes the tech giant’s generative AI technology. Later this week, Nadella is slated to visit Malaysia and Thailand.
MSFT’s Southeast Asia Focus
Furthermore, Microsoft will train 2.5 million Southeast Asian people to use AI by 2025, including 840,000 people in Indonesia. The company is expanding its support for the development of AI globally with a $2.9 billion investment in Japan and a $1.5 billion investment in UAE’s G42.
