Microsoft (MSFT) Opens Up Advanced AI Tools for Free

Microsoft (MSFT) is expanding access to its advanced AI tools by offering them for free. Users can now explore features like unlimited voice conversations and the “Think Deeper” function. This means users can engage in more natural conversations with Microsoft’s AI assistant without paying a fee.

Previously, these features were only available to paid subscribers. By offering it for free now, Microsoft aims to broaden its user base. However, the company warns that heavy demand for these tools could cause occasional delays.

MSFT Brings Premium Features to More Users

The “Think Deeper” feature, powered by OpenAI’s o1 model, boosts Copilot’s ability to handle tough questions with detailed answers. It’s useful for tasks like comparing choices, coding, or planning.

Meanwhile, the voice feature lets users have longer, hands-free chats, making the AI easier to use.

While the Copilot Pro plan still costs $20 a month for priority access, giving core features for free helps Microsoft reach more people. This move allows millions to try AI, driving user growth and loyalty.

Why Microsoft Is Doing This

Microsoft’s move to offer advanced AI tools for free is a clear response to growing competition in the AI space. Tech giants like Google (GOOGL) and OpenAI also provide free AI features, making the race to lead the market more intense.

By removing paywalls, Microsoft can now reach more users and encourage them to try its Copilot platform. This not only increases user adoption but also builds loyalty by giving people access to its advanced AI. At the same time, the $20-a-month Copilot Pro plan still offers extra benefits, giving Microsoft a way to turn free users into paying customers and drive future growth.

As of February 26, 2025, Microsoft stock is trading at $397.90, down 1.51% from the previous close. Meanwhile, Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL) is trading at $175.42, marking a 2.14% decline.
