Microsoft, and Google CEOs Invited to the White House Over AI Concerns

According to multiple news reports, Vice President Kamala Harris is likely to host Microsoft’s (MSFT) CEO Satya Nadella and Alphabet’s (GOOGL) Sundar Pichai, as well as the CEOs of OpenAI and AI start-up Anthropic at the White House on Thursday amid growing concerns of the U.S. Government regarding artificial intelligence (AI).

According to Reuters, the invitation mentions President Biden’s “expectation that companies like yours must make sure their products are safe before making them available to the public.”

This news comes as the U.S. Government is weighing a regulation on AI as the Commerce Department invited public comments last month on what measures may be needed to ensure that “AI systems are legal, effective, ethical, safe, and otherwise trustworthy.”

The rising interest in AI has also resulted in the Global X Artificial Intelligence & Technology ETF (AIQ) going up more than 18% year-to-date.
