Yes, the green milkshake that traditionally comes around in time for St. Patrick’s Day is back at McDonald’s. But the beverage will not come back alone. After the surprising success of the Grimace shake, McDonald’s is reaching deep into its archives to bring back an old, old friend: Uncle O’Grimacey.

No, seriously. Uncle O’Grimacey. Apparently, Uncle O’Grimacey got his start back in 1975, reports noted, but the character has not been seen since the mid-eighties. Naturally, Uncle O’Grimacey is directly connected to the Shamrock Shake, because of course he is. And there will even be a charitable connection as well. This year, $0.25 out of every Shamrock Shake sold will go directly to the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

The Secret Life of (One) McDonald’s

McDonald’s is a fairly simple and basic concept. The same cheeseburgers, the same fries, and a lot of the time, an indoor playground for the kids. But what if I told you about the McDonald’s that has foie gras on the menu? You would probably think I was watching too much Demolition Man, and that Taco Bell did win the fast food wars after all. But no; one McDonald’s in Budapest turns into an upscale nightclub every weekend.

From 10 pm to 4 am every Friday and Saturday, this McDonald’s gets live DJ sets and light shows. There is even a special menu, featuring the Goosey Gustav burger, which is topped with—you guessed it—foie gras.
