JWN Earnings: Nordstrom Reports Mixed Q4 Results & CFO Departure

Nordstrom (JWN) stock was largely unmoved today after the U.S. luxury department store released its Q4 2024 earnings report. The company reported adjusted earnings per share of $1.10, which surpassed Wall Street’s estimate of 93 cents. It was also a 1.6% improvement year-over-year compared to 96 cents.

Also included in the Nordstrom Q4 earnings report is revenue of $4.2 billion, which missed analysts’ estimate of $4.28 billion. It also represented about a 2.1% drop from the $4.29 billion reported at the same time last year. Nordstrom noted that 2023 included an additional week, which provided it with an extra $190 million in revenue in Q4 2023.

The mixed Q4 earnings report has investors torn on JWN stock. As a result, the shares have seen minimal movement with a 0.12% boost this morning. The company’s year-to-date performance has the stock up 0.5% and shares have increased 20.45% over the last year.

Nordstrom Announces an Executive Change

In its latest earnings report, Nordstrom announced that Chief Financial Officer Cathy Smith will depart the company. Smith will leave Nordstrom after it files its Annual Report on Form 10-K for the 2024 fiscal year, which should happen within the next month. She’s leaving the company to take over as the CFO of Starbucks (SBUX). Smith’s planned departure has Nordstrom starting a search for its next CFO.

Is JWN Stock a Buy, Sell, or Hold?

Turning to Wall Street, the analysts’ consensus rating for Nordstrom is Hold based on six Hold and one Sell ratings over the last three months. With that comes an average price target of $24, with high and low estimates matching that. This represents a potential 1.11% downside for JWN stock. These ratings and price targets will likely change as analysts update their coverage after today’s earnings report.
