Story Highlights

JPMorgan Chase stock got a boost on Friday after it reported earnings per share and revenue beats for Q1 2025.

JPM Earnings: JPMorgan Chase Stock Jumps on Q1 Beats

JPMorgan Chase (JPM) stock jumped on Friday following the release of the financial and banking company’s Q1 2025 earnings report. Earnings per share of $5.07 easily beat Wall Street’s estimate of $4.63. It also increased by 14.2% from the $4.44 per share reported in Q1 2024.

JPMorgan Chase reported revenue of $46.01 billion in Q1 2025, surpassing analysts’ estimate of $43.99 billion. The company’s revenue also grew 8.1% year-over-year from $42.55 billion, with a 17% growth in noninterest revenue to $22.6 billion.

JPMorgan Chase investors appeared pleased with the Q1 earnings beats, boosting the stock 0.77% higher in pre-market trading today. However, that comes after a 3.09% drop yesterday, and shares are down 4.18% year-to-date. This decline has less to do with JPM’s performance this year and more to do with the current economic climate. President Donald Trump’s trade war and tariffs have weighed heavily on the stock market in 2025.

JPM CEO Jamie Dimon’s Comments

JPMorgan Chase Chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon addressed the current state of the economy in the company’s Q1 earnings report. He said, “The economy is facing considerable turbulence (including geopolitics), with the potential positives of tax reform and deregulation and the potential negatives of tariffs and ‘trade wars,’ ongoing sticky inflation, high fiscal deficits and still rather high asset prices and volatility.”

Despite these issues, Dimon said that JPMorgan Chase will “hope for the best but prepare the Firm for a wide range of scenarios.”

Is JPM Stock a Buy, Sell, or Hold?

Turning to Wall Street, the analysts’ consensus rating for JPMorgan Chase is Moderate Buy, based on 11 Buy and seven Hold ratings over the last three months. With that comes an average price target of $270.31, representing a potential 19.02% upside for JPM stock. These ratings and price targets will likely change as analysts update their coverage after today’s earnings.
