Admittedly, things are not exactly normal for legacy automaker Ford (F) right now. All the tariffs flying around are complicating the picture surprisingly well, as elements of its supply chain find themselves under fire while other elements are still in fine fettle. But Ford is still insisting that deliveries arrive on schedule, despite all the confusion. Ford investors are pleased at Ford’s resilience, and sent shares up over 2% in Monday afternoon’s trading.
Ford is currently engaged in stockpiling quantities of USMCA-compliant parts, reports note, even as the April 2 deadline approaches for 25% tariffs on both Canada and Mexico are set to hit and 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum parts carry on as well. But Ford is clearly taking advantage of the reprieve it won from President Trump, and is building up a stockpile accordingly in case it needs to pare back in the face of the tariffs to come.
A letter from Liz Door, Ford’s head of the supply chain, noted: “As the situation continues to develop, we require all suppliers to continue shipping parts in accordance with existing contractual terms, including pricing and delivery schedules. We ask that you continue to utilize your best commercial efforts and encourage your team to take all possible measures to minimize the impact to your business and Ford.”
The Tremor Firing Up the Crowd
Meanwhile, exciting news for Ford fans emerged as the Tremor is getting another expansion. Though all we know about it so far came out of a recent teaser ad, the little bit that was seen was enough to capture attention and not just a few imaginations. The reports suggest that it may be the Ford Explorer that is next in line to get a Tremor addition.
The Tremor line is supposed to be Ford’s big off-roading imprint, so the only real surprise about seeing a Tremor-version Explorer is in why it took this long to be realized. A Tremor, reports note, can be either a full-grade off-road vehicle, or a mid-grade. Either way, it boasts a higher ride, large all-terrain tires, and suspension specifically designed for the off-road market. That is certainly in keeping with Ford’s pledge of “no more boring cars,” though the Explorer probably should have had this long before now.
Is Ford Stock a Good Buy Right Now?
Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Hold consensus rating on F stock based on four Buys, nine Holds and two Sells assigned in the past three months, as indicated by the graphic below. After a 12.19% loss in its share price over the past year, the average F price target of $10.71 per share implies 7.64% upside potential.
