Ford (NYSE:F) Makes the Most of Quiet Detroit Auto Show

Story Highlights

Ford brings out several new models at the Detroit Auto Show, while the Mustang gets particular attention at the show and beyond.

While most of us were likely focused on the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Detroit started up an event all its own: the Detroit Auto Show, which runs through January 20. And legacy automaker Ford (F) was of course there with some impressive new pieces to show. The job did well enough for investors, though, as Ford shares were up fractionally in Monday afternoon’s trading.

Stay Ahead of the Market:

A report from US News & World Report pointed out that Ford kicked the show off with a bang, as it brought out an entire line of pickups and SUVs to show off. A Detroit Lions-themed Powerboost Hybrid F-150 pickup got put on display, along with a special edition Bronco Stroppe, which first made an appearance back in November.

Also in attendance were the 2025 Ford Expedition Tremor, which boasted full underbody protection and 33-inch all-terrain tires, making it a natural fit for off-roading. Ford also managed to walk away with an award fro the North American Truck of the Year award, noted an Axios report, for the Ford Ranger. However, the real winner might have been Ford’s Mustang line, which not only got exhibited at the show, but also made news elsewhere.

Mustang Mania

First, news from the Midland Daily News revealed that the Michigan State Police are planning to put Mach-E Mustangs to work as part of their new battery electric vehicle fleet. The vehicles will be mainly used, the reports note, by the State Security Operations Section, mainly for “state properties security officers.”

Further, a report from Motor1 took a look at low Mustang sales—record low sales, actually—and revealed that Ford does not think pricing on the iconic car line has anything to do with those numbers. Ford, for its part, noted that there are only so many kinds of front-engined two-door sports cars out there these days, and that puts Ford’s car—and its pricing—in the “sweet spot.”
