Ford (NYSE:F) Brings Out New “Megazilla” Engine

Story Highlights

Ford shows off two new engines and four new Mustang Mach-E versions.

There have been some concerns, recently, about legacy automaker Ford (F) and its engine lineup. Its move to reduce the availability of V8 engines in favor of smaller, more fuel-efficient models has certainly left high-end enthusiasts concerned. But the V8s that survive the move are getting even more impressive, reports note. And that was good enough for Ford investors, who sent shares up fractionally in Thursday afternoon’s trading.

Invest with Confidence:

The V8 engine is not dead at Ford. In fact, a pair of new, high-end crate engines are getting ready for launch, and giving users a lot of new options. First, there is the 7.3 liter Megazilla 2.0, which is actually a new version of the original Megazilla. Large portions of this engine are forged, including the crankshaft, the connecting rods, and the pistons. It can ultimately produce over 1,000 horsepower, which approaches double the original Megazilla’s horsepower rating of 615.

The smaller version, meanwhile, the 5.0 liter Coyote V-8, will still put on an impressive display of power. Backed up by a 3.0 liter Whipple blower, the Coyote will offer up 800 horsepower along with 615 foot-pounds of torque. In what may be the biggest incentive of all, though, the Coyote V-8 will be street-legal.

The 2025 Mustang Mach-E Revealed

Ford also unveiled some news about the new model year version of the Mustang Mach-E. It is not considered a “refreshed” version, but it does offer new options. Potential buyers will have four different trim options to choose from, starting with the Select, and going to the Premium, the GT, and the Rally. A new heat pump will reduce range loss for cold days.

However, the new Mach-E will have a 40% smaller trunk, thanks to that new heat pump and some further electrical updates, as well as cooling changes. Prices, meanwhile, will vary by trim selected and options. Ford notes that the Select will start at $36,495.
