Federal Workers Fight Back Against Elon Musk’s Recent Email and File a Lawsuit

U.S. Federal workers are fighting back against Elon Musk’s recent email after a lawsuit was filed in a California federal court accusing Musk of violating laws. The email required workers to list five tasks that they accomplished last week by the end of Monday or risk being fired. Unsurprisingly, Musk has been met with resistance from some agency leaders, who have instructed employees not to respond to the emails due to the potential to disclose sensitive information.

The lawsuit aims to block the mass layoffs of the federal workforce that is being pursued by Musk and President Donald Trump, which is part of a broader effort to downsize the federal government. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of unions, businesses, veterans, and conservative groups represented by the State Democracy Defenders Fund.

It is also worth noting that Musk’s aggressive cost-cutting efforts led to protests that targeted Tesla (TSLA) dealerships on Saturday in cities like New York, Seattle, and Kansas City. In addition, many protesters held signs and chanted slogans that criticized Musk’s involvement in the administration while drawing comparisons to authoritarian regimes – a claim Musk has denied. Nevertheless, Musk has continued to put pressure on federal workers by posting on X that “those who do not take this email seriously will soon be furthering their career elsewhere.”

Is Tesla a Buy, Sell, or Hold?

Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Hold consensus rating on TSLA stock based on 13 Buys, 12 Holds, and 10 Sells assigned in the past three months, as indicated by the graphic below. After a 69% rally in its share price over the past year, the average TSLA price target of $351.38 per share implies 4% upside potential.
