Eversource Energy (ES) has released an update.
Ørsted is set to acquire Eversource’s 50% stake in Sunrise Wind, a 924 MW offshore wind farm poised to supply power to New York, pending the project’s successful bid in New York’s 4th offshore wind capacity solicitation and subsequent regulatory approvals. The deal depends on Sunrise Wind securing the bid and signing a new OREC contract with NYSERDA. If unsuccessful, the joint venture between Eversource and Ørsted will continue. Sunrise Wind aims to contribute to New York’s 2030 renewable energy goals, with expected completion in 2026 if awarded. The project has passed state agency reviews and secured necessary agreements and permits for construction to begin post-award.
