Wolfspeed, Inc., a leader in silicon carbide technology, plays a pivotal role in the semiconductor industry by delivering innovative solutions that power disruptive technologies worldwide. The company specializes in silicon carbide materials and power products, targeting applications in various sectors.

In the first quarter of fiscal 2025, Wolfspeed reported consolidated revenue of approximately $195 million, slightly down from the $197 million recorded in the previous year. The company highlighted its strategic moves to solidify its capital structure and simplify its business operations to accelerate profitability. Notably, Wolfspeed secured access to an additional $2.5 billion in liquidity through tax credits, lending agreements, and the CHIPS Act.

Key financial metrics of the quarter include power device design-ins and design-wins at $1.5 billion and $1.3 billion, respectively. Despite a decrease in gross margins, largely due to underutilization costs connected to the Mohawk Valley Fab’s production start, the company is optimistic about future growth. Wolfspeed is actively transitioning to a pure-play 200-millimeter silicon carbide platform, expecting $200 million in annual cash savings from this move.

The company also reported a significant increase in automotive business growth, with expectations for continued expansion in EV revenue through 2025. Wolfspeed remains committed to optimizing its capital structure and reducing capital expenditure guidance by $100 million, aligning with evolving market demands.

Looking ahead, Wolfspeed targets revenue between $160 million and $200 million for the second quarter of fiscal 2025. The company anticipates a GAAP net loss but continues to focus on streamlining operations and enhancing efficiency, positioning itself to capture long-term growth opportunities in its core markets.
