Verisign Nears Renewal of Key Internet Governance Agreement

Verisign (VRSN) just unveiled an update.

Verisign and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) are set to renew their Cooperative Agreement, which plays a key role in maintaining the security and stability of internet governance. The NTIA has acknowledged Verisign’s effective management of critical internet functions, such as the .com registry. Discussions will be held on the pricing in the .com market, considering concerns that capped wholesale prices have led to an unregulated secondary market without benefiting end-users. Verisign is committed to these talks, aiming to reach solutions that serve the interests of consumers and businesses within the DNS ecosystem.
