Uranium Energy Expands with Rio Tinto’s Assets Purchase

Uranium Energy ( (UEC) ) has shared an update.

Uranium Energy Corp has unveiled its strategic acquisition of Rio Tinto’s Wyoming uranium assets, including the fully-licensed Sweetwater Plant and a series of mining projects, for $175 million. This move establishes UEC’s third U.S. production hub, enhancing its position in the uranium market. The deal adds substantial resources, with around 175 million pounds of historic uranium, and leverages operational synergies to accelerate UEC’s growth. The acquisition is timely, given the escalating demand for domestic uranium fueled by geopolitical tensions and the push for clean energy, positioning UEC as a dominant player in North America’s uranium sector.
