Tokyo Gas Reports Decline in Q3 Earnings

The company experienced a 3.1% decrease in net sales to ¥1,843,721 million and a significant drop in operating profit by 55.2% to ¥72,954 million. Furthermore, the profit attributable to owners of the parent fell sharply by 68.3% to ¥36,591 million.

Key factors contributing to these results include increased operating expenses driven by higher raw material costs, particularly crude oil, and a reduction in city gas and electric power sales volumes. Despite a slight increase in city gas sales volume to other utilities, overall demand decreased, especially in residential and industrial sectors. The company’s overseas operations saw a rise in sales but were offset by higher operating expenses.

Tokyo Gas also announced changes in its financial position, with total assets slightly increasing to ¥3,891,482 million, while net assets saw a minor decline. The company maintained its forecast for a full-year net sales increase of 0.9% but expects further declines in operating and ordinary profit.
