Severn Trent, a leader in environmental performance within the water sector, has received a Section 203 notice from Ofwat as part of an industry-wide investigation into wastewater treatment compliance. The company has publicly committed to addressing combined sewer overflow (CSO) issues aggressively, investing over £1 billion and planning to tackle 900 CSOs this year, exceeding regulatory requirements. Ofwat has acknowledged Severn Trent’s ‘outstanding’ business plan and ambitious performance targets, and the company is working collaboratively with the regulator towards a resolution.
