Sembcorp Industries has signed a groundbreaking two-year agreement with Tenaga Nasional Berhad to import 50MW of renewable energy into Singapore, marking the country’s first renewable energy import with Renewable Energy Certificates. This deal, part of Malaysia’s pilot for cross-border green electricity trading, utilizes existing infrastructure to ensure the sustainable sourcing of energy. Despite its significance, the agreement is not expected to impact Sembcorp’s financial metrics for 2024.
