On February 5, 2025, Olin Corporation announced the groundbreaking of a new 6.8mm Ammunition Facility at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, in collaboration with the U.S. Army’s JPEO A&A and JMC. The facility is part of the Next Generation Squad Weapons Program and aims to enhance the Army’s modernization efforts. The 450,000 square-foot facility will significantly impact the defense industry by creating jobs and driving economic growth in the Kansas City region.
