Nissan Motor Co (JP:7201) has released an update.
Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has announced that Renault S.A. remains its largest shareholder, with a 40.65% stake, and under a new alliance, both companies have capped their voting rights at 15%. Renault will transfer Nissan shares into a French trust where they will be voted neutrally, while still retaining the right to nominate two board members at Nissan, mirroring Nissan’s right at Renault. The arrangement ensures Nissan’s operational independence and prevents conflicts of interest, with a majority of Nissan’s board being independent outside directors.
