Manulife US Real Estate Investment Trust (Manulife US REIT) has announced that transfers of its units will not be subject to the new US withholding tax, as it is structured to not engage in US trade or business. The REIT has issued a Qualified Notice confirming this exemption, ensuring unitholders and brokers are free from the withholding tax requirements and related tax filings. This notice will be updated quarterly and is available on the company’s website.
