The settlement, approved by the Ontario Superior Court, involves JTI-MC and its co-defendants paying a total of 32.5 billion Canadian dollars over a period of 20 to 30 years, with JTI-MC’s payments tied to its annual net income. This resolution marks the end of all smoking and health lawsuits against JTI-MC, allowing the company to focus on future operations without the burden of past legal challenges.
