ispace, inc., a Tokyo-based lunar exploration firm, has partnered with the UK’s Asteroid Mining Corporation to deploy a robotic explorer named SCAR-E to the Moon, aimed at advancing future asteroid mining endeavors. The SCAR-E robot, designed to traverse challenging lunar terrain, will be delivered by ispace’s RESILIENCE lunar lander, with a launch planned no earlier than December 2024. This collaboration marks a milestone for both companies, as they work to establish an end-to-end mission architecture for the lunar market, potentially benefiting all of humanity.
