HSBC Holdings PLC has recently bought back and cancelled a significant number of its own shares, with 7,632,897 ordinary shares purchased on UK Venues and 2,997,200 on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, signaling a strong move in its capital management strategy. Following these transactions, the company’s issued share capital has been reduced, affecting the voting rights with a new total of 18,562,081,308 ordinary shares. This action is part of a larger buy-back program initiated on 7 May 2024, with the company having repurchased shares for a total consideration of approximately US$2.5 billion to date.
