Hellenic Telecom Faces Major Tax Charge in Romania

Hellenic Telecom Organization SA (HLTOY) has released an update.

Hellenic Telecommunications Organization (OTE) faces a €33.5 million tax charge from the Romanian Tax Authority due to alleged VAT and Corporate Income Tax miscalculations by its subsidiary, Telekom Romania Mobile. While these charges pertain to previous fiscal years and do not affect the group’s current performance, OTE plans to challenge the findings in court and may leverage a Romanian ordinance to avoid additional penalties. This development may interest investors monitoring OTE’s financial and legal strategies.
