Exelon Corporation is the largest utility company in the United States, operating in the energy sector and serving over 10.7 million customers through its six regulated utilities. The company focuses on electricity transmission and distribution and retail natural gas distribution across several states, including Illinois, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.

In its recent earnings report for the fourth quarter and full year 2024, Exelon reported a GAAP net income of $0.64 per share for the fourth quarter and $2.45 per share for the full year. The company also announced an adjusted operating earnings of $2.50 per share for the year. Exelon introduced its 2025 earnings guidance, projecting adjusted operating earnings between $2.64 and $2.74 per share.

Exelon plans to invest $38 billion in capital expenditures over the next four years, which marks a 10% increase from its previous plan, to enhance grid reliability and meet customer needs. This investment is expected to drive a 7.4% growth in the rate base and a 5-7% annual growth in operating earnings per share from 2024 to 2028. The company also highlighted its strong performance in reliability and safety across its utilities, with most maintaining top quartile or better rankings.

Exelon’s financial strategy includes updating its four-year financing plan to incorporate $1.4 billion of additional equity, supporting its capital expenditure needs. Almost 90% of Exelon’s rate base is now secured through established recovery mechanisms, providing stability in cost recovery through 2026 or 2027.

Looking ahead, Exelon remains focused on maintaining its leadership in the energy sector with continuous improvements in grid reliability and customer service, while also pursuing growth through strategic investments and operational excellence.
