Eidesvik Offshore ASA has announced the extension of their contract with Equinor Energy AS for the Viking Energy supply vessel until April 2030. The vessel will be retrofitted with an ammonia-powered dual fuel engine as part of the ‘Apollo’ European innovation project, funded by the EU’s Horizon Europe programme, and is set to become the world’s first offshore vessel to use ammonia as a primary fuel source by the first half of 2026. This initiative, involving key industry partners, underscores Eidesvik’s commitment to pioneering carbon-free shipping operations.
