Canfor Struggles in Q2 2024 with Significant Losses

Story Highlights

Canfor (TSE:CFP) has released an update.

Canfor Corporation faced a challenging second quarter in 2024 with an operating loss of $251 million and a net loss for shareholders amounting to $191 million, or $1.61 per share. The company’s performance was affected by sustained softness in North American lumber markets and particularly poor Southern Yellow Pine pricing, despite strong global pulp pricing. Additionally, Canfor announced the permanent closure of two sawmills and the indefinite curtailment of a production line at a pulp mill.
