BHP Group Ltd (AU:BHP) has released an update.
BHP Group Limited has struck an agreement with Vale S.A to equally share potential compensation payments related to the Fundão Dam failure lawsuits in the UK, the Netherlands, and Brazil, reaffirming their 2016 commitment without admitting liability. As part of the deal, BHP will withdraw its contribution claim against Vale, and continues to support local remediation in Brazil through the Renova Foundation, which has already allocated around US$3.5 billion to affected individuals.
