ACCC Approves Optus-TPG Telecom Deal

TPG Telecom Limited (AU:TPG) has released an update.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has approved the mobile network and spectrum sharing agreements between Optus and TPG Telecom, which will enhance TPG’s regional coverage and support Optus’s 5G rollout without significantly lessening competition. The 11-year deal, with an option for a 5-year extension, allows the companies to share resources in regional areas, while continuing to operate independently in metropolitan regions. The ACCC will monitor the market changes following this arrangement, which is seen as a significant structural shift.
