The move makes perfect sense for Behance in many ways. The platform is designed for creatives to showcase their work, and discover and collaborate with other artists.
NFTs have become increasingly popular with creatives, as they provide a way to prove ownership of their creations and sell the rights to others.
Many of Behance’s users already showcase NFTs built on the Ethereum blockchain. However, a lot of creators do not want to be associated with Ethereum due to concerns over its high energy usage and its expensive gas costs.
As such, they prefer to mint their NFTs on other, energy-efficient blockchains such as Solana, which relies on a proof-of-stake consensus.
Solana is a great alternative to Ethereum, with a single transaction on its blockchain using the same energy it does to perform a search on Google. Transaction costs are minimal, too.
With today’s update, Behance said users can now connect their Phantom Wallets to their accounts to showcase Solana NFTs on their profiles. The integration was made possible thanks to QuickNode, which sells a platform for creating and scaling decentralized applications, or dApps.
With QuickNode, developers can rent access to blockchain infrastructure, as opposed to building and maintaining their own node.
Behance said creators can be reassured that it has built-in a number of safeguards to protect their NFTs from being stolen. Users will be able to add their Solana address to the Content Credentials tool, ensuring that only they can receive credit for their work.
Additionally, Behance is looking to add more tools that will inform artists if anyone tries to steal their work.
Creators can get started minting Solana NFTs using tools such as Holaplex, which also allows them to build an NFT store. For more advanced users, the Metaplex tool provides additional controls and customization for NFT designers.
Once they’ve been minted, creatives can list their NFTs for sale on popular Solana NFT marketplaces such as Magic Eden and Formfunction.
