Are the Markets Open Tomorrow, Martin Luther King Jr. Day?

The U.S. stock markets will be closed tomorrow, January 20, 2025, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Future President Trump’s inauguration will also take place tomorrow, but the U.S. markets do not close for presidential inaugurations.

In fact, on January 19, 2021, the day of President Biden’s inauguration, the markets soared. On that day, the market rallied to a record close, with both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composites reaching new highs. Tomorrow, on Trump’s second inauguration day, the markets will be closed, so we will have to wait until Tuesday, January 21 to see the effect of his new presidency on the stock market.
