Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) has warned its users in India and 91 other countries that they could be potential victims of a “mercenary spyware attack.” The tech giant found that the attackers tried to “remotely compromise the iPhone” and informed users about the potential attack through a notification email.

Mercenary spyware attacks are rare and more sophisticated than malware attacks. They attempt to remotely infiltrate and control smartphones and other devices without the knowledge or consent of the users.
Apple has sent multiple notifications, such as the above, multiple times a year since 2021, and has notified users in more than 150 countries in total to date.
