Apple said that it is working to fix the bug as soon as possible. A user took a video of the glitch and shared it on social media platform TikTok, which quickly went viral. Other users have also started posting similar videos on social media apps. The company is facing severe outrage from traditional thinkers for the glitch.
Apple Is Working to Fix the Glitch
Apple has acknowledged that there is an issue with the speech recognition software and is working actively to resolve the issue. The company says that the app is mistakenly overlapping some words with an “r” consonant to “Trump.” This issue can occur for other words with some phonetic overlap as well, such as “ramp,” “rhythmic,” and “ruffles.” Glitches like these could be common in the AI (artificial intelligence) era and companies need to fix them quickly to avoid backlash.
Although the word “Trump” appears for a very brief moment before it quickly corrects to “racist,” it surely is a very bad timing and awkward situation for the company. Just yesterday, Apple announced that it would invest up to $500 billion in the U.S. and set up a new 250,000 sq ft AI server manufacturing facility in Houston next year. The company would also create roughly 20,000 jobs over the next four years. Apple CEO Tim Cook also met President Donald Trump at the White House on Monday to discuss the potential impact of China’s trade tariffs on iPhone sales, but there are no details about the outcome yet.
