Another Recall at Ford (NYSE:F) Over Battery Concerns

Story Highlights

Ford faces another recall effort, and has a plan to help you spot trapped animals in your garage.

Oh, Ford (F). You may be fighting hard to no longer make “boring” vehicles, but the vehicles you actually do make do not always roll off the line in the best of shape. In fact, word from Reuters has another Ford recall effort getting started up, this time over batteries. Thankfully, this is nothing investors have not heard before, and shares tipped up nearly 1.5% in Thursday afternoon’s trading.

Invest with Confidence:

The latest recall effort got started up by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), and focuses on batteries. Specifically, full-on battery failure. The 12-volt battery that runs key systems in some models can outright fail, noted a Reuters report, and can not only cause “a loss of electrical accessories” like hazard lights, or possibly “a loss of drive power,” which could increase the chance of a crash later.

The recall effort covers 272,817 total vehicles, the report noted, including 2021 through 2023 Bronco Sport models and Mavericks made between 2022 and 2023. Those impacted will need to go to the dealership for inspection. Should action be required, the dealership will replace the battery at no charge, or rather, at no expense.

No More Raccoon Sneak Attacks

If you have ever come home and discovered an animal has somehow become trapped in your garage, fret no longer. A new report from Ford Authority notes that Ford may have a solution for these unexpected garage guests, based on a new patent.

The report was filed back in July 2023, and published earlier today, that covered “Systems and Methods to Monitor Animals in a Garage.” Originally designed for pets who are left in garages, it is intended to help users monitor whether or not there is an animal trapped in the garage, and then notify the user that this is the case. The system relies on a series of sensors that can detect movement, especially movement from something small, like a pet-sized animal. Whether or not it can detect something as small and quick-moving as mice, however, is unclear.
