Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL) announced on Monday that it had closed its $5.4 billion acquisition of Mandiant (MNDT), a cyber defense company. Mandiant will be a part of its Google Cloud business and retain the Mandiant brand.

Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud commented on the acquisition, “The completion of this acquisition will enable us to deliver a comprehensive and best-in-class cybersecurity solution.”
With the acquisition of Mandiant, Google Cloud will “deliver an end-to-end security operations suite with even greater capabilities to support customers across their cloud and on-premise environments.”
