Quantum computing remains one of the most exciting corners of the tech market. While the industry is still early, a handful of pure‑play names are building real momentum as governments, cloud providers, and enterprises ramp up investment. Three stocks currently stand out: D‑Wave Quantum (QBTS), IonQ (IONQ), and Quantum Computing Inc. (QUBT).

Here’s a closer look at why analysts view these companies as high‑potential long‑term plays.

1. D‑Wave Quantum (QBTS)

D‑Wave sells quantum annealing systems, a type of tech built for tough optimization jobs in shipping, manufacturing, and government work. This gives the company an edge as firms look for quantum tools they can use now, instead of waiting years for full fault‑tolerant systems.

The company has been adding more customers and rolling out its new Advantage2 system, which could speed up adoption. Also, D‑Wave’s recurring‑revenue model, growing pipeline, and real‑world use cases are key reasons to stay upbeat.

Recently, Mizuho’s Vijay Rakesh raised his D‑Wave price target to $35 and kept an Outperform rating. He said D‑Wave’s new roadmaps, faster error-correction plans, and stronger long‑term margins show the company can stay a leader in annealing. He added that the company is also building toward fault‑tolerant gate‑based quantum systems.

QBTS stock has an analyst consensus of Strong Buy and carries an average price target of $38.27, indicating a 60.95% upside potential.

2. IonQ (IONQ)

IonQ is one of the most watched quantum stocks thanks to its trapped‑ion design, which gives long coherence times and very accurate operations. Its tech roadmap, cloud deals, and government work put it in a favorable spot in the race to build scalable quantum systems.

The company has hit several big tech milestones, including linking two quantum systems which is a key step toward quantum networking. IonQ also gains from wide cloud reach through Amazon (AMZN) Braket, Microsoft (MSFT) Azure, and Google (GOOGL) Cloud, giving it strong access to enterprise and research users.

IONQ stock has an analyst consensus of Strong Buy, with an average price target of $67.44, suggesting an upside of 19.8%.

3. Quantum Computing Inc. (QUBT)

Quantum Computing Inc. takes a different path from hardware-focused peers. The company is building software‑first quantum tools and pushing ahead in photonic quantum processing, which could scale faster and cut errors rates over time.

The company’s upside potential is visible through its growing set of quantum software, rising interest from defense and cybersecurity groups, and progress in photonic quantum technologies.

Last month, Lake Street’s Maxwell Michaelis kept his Buy rating and $16 target on QUBT stock. He said QCi’s two recent deals are adding real revenue and Fab 1 is ramping well. The analyst also noted that the company’s strong balance sheet and lead in TFLN photonics give it a long growth path.

Currently, QUBT stock has an analyst consensus of Strong Buy. With an average price target of $17.50, the stock has an implied upside potential of 71.74%.
